The United Nations declared this day and made a commitment to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls worldwide. The Canadian Encyclopedia has a great collect of biographies, readings and videos (in French!) portraying the lives of women who have made a significant impact on the development of science, technology and math. See the navigation bar on the left side of the page to read about women who studied in each discipline.
The University of Ottawa has several profiles of women working in STEM fields listed on their websites.
The Government of Canada profiles the stories of current Canadian women and how they chose a career in the STEM fields.

Your students will perform in-depth research on a notable woman who has contributed to the development of research and innovation in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math throughout history.
